Day 1: Start of tour in Munich

Welcome to Munich, the capital of Bavaria! Famous for its parks, beer gardens, museums, historical sites and innovative industry, Munich offers something to every type of traveller. Munich is best known for its legendary, annual Oktoberfest which sees crowds of locals and visitors dressed up in blue and white enjoying local beer. However, during the rest of the year, Munich is much quieter and peaceful. Unless Bayern Munich is playing! Make your own way to tonight’s accommodation where your Tour Director will meet you and the group for check in. Enjoy a free evening to spend as you wish.

Explore Munich on a driving and walking tour this morning. Drive past the Olympic Stadium, built for the 1972 Summer Olympics, en route to Marienplatz, the cultural center of the city. Admire the striking, Gothic New Town Hall which houses Munich's world-famous Glockenspiel. Dating back to 1908, this colourful, mechanical clock has life-size figures that dance to music several times a day! Discover Frauenkirche, Maximilianstrasse, Odeonsplatz and much more. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore at your own pace before tonight’s welcome dinner in an authentic Bavarian beer hall!

This morning, travel through the Czech countryside towards Pilsen. This historic city, famed for its beer, was founded by King Wenceslas II in the late 13th century. Explore the historic city center and Republic Square. Marvel at the Gothic St. Bartholomew Cathedral (boasting the tallest church tower in the Czech Republic), and the Old Town Hall. Enjoy free time for lunch before continuing onwards to the "Golden City" of Prague, the capital of Czechia. Tonight is free to spend as you wish. Alternatively, join the optional Czech folk music and dancing dinner show!

Start the day with a walking tour through Prague’s charming Malá Strana (Little Quarter) neighbourhood. Wander through winding streets past its historic Burgher houses! Cross the iconic Charles Bridge into the medieval Old Town to explore cobbled lanes and the Old Town Square. Stroll through the Jewish Quarter, once the largest Jewish ghetto in Europe. Marvel at the white, Stucco St. Nicholas Church, the famous Astronomical Clock and Town Hall. Later, enjoy free time or join an optional afternoon tour to the breathtaking Prague Castle complex and majestic St. Vitus Cathedral for sweeping city views.

Departing Prague this morning, head to the Baroque city of Dresden which was meticulously restored following wartime destruction. View the ornate Zwinger Palace, the world-renowned Semper Opera House and the Frauenkirche Church, celebrated for its magnificent baroque dome. Enjoy independent exploration and free time for lunch. Later this afternoon, continue to Berlin. Get your first taste of the city with a driving tour. Spot top sights including the Brandenburg gate, Tier garden, Unter den linden, Berliner dom, museum island, and Checkpoint Charlie! Savour a delicious local dinner before heading to your accommodation.

Enjoy a free day to explore Berlin at your own pace. Or, join the Ultimate Berlin Experience! This optional excursion explores the East Side gallery, the still-standing parts of the Berlin Wall now covered in colourful street art. Join a local guide on a hidden sites walking tour to learn more about the Hackescher Markt, Jewish history and pre-/post-war life in the city. Try some local currywurst and finish the day with stunning city views atop the TV Tower. Built in the 1960s and located in Alexanderplatz, this is the tallest structure in Germany at 368m and one of Berlin’s top attractions.

Sit back and relax as we continue on to Krakow, Poland. Poland is a sought-after destination thanks to its rich history, including its resilience during World War II and the Solidarity movement. It's also known for its picturesque architecture, delicious cuisine (especially pierogi!), and awe-inspiring natural landscapes. Arrive in Krakow in the late afternoon. This enchanting city, situated on the Vistula River, is known for its remarkably well-preserved Old Town and being the former residence of the Polish kings. Check into the hotel and head out for a traditional Polish dinner!

Begin the day with a morning tour of medieval Krakow. Visit the historic 16th-century Wawel Royal Castle District and Market Square to view St. Mary's Church, and the Renaissance Cloth Hall. Afterwards, enjoy free time to explore on your own before heading to the town of Oswiecim where Auschwitz, the largest Nazi concentration camp, was built. After an introduction and historic film viewing, embark on a sombre yet insightful guided tour of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp Museum. Look forward to a free evening in Krakow.

Today, journey through the scenic Tatra Mountains and the wooded countryside of Slovakia before reaching the Danube Valley and Hungary's capital city, Budapest. With its celebrated architecture, rich history, and vibrant culture, Budapest is known as the "Queen of the Danube" and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city's unique character stems from the unification of its cities Buda and Pest, with each side offering distinct experiences and attractions. Enjoy a driving tour on arrival and spot the Parliament building, the Royal Palace, and Heroes' Square. After checking into your hotel, enjoy a free evening.

Today, enjoy exploring Budapest at leisure. Or, join one or both of the optional excursions available. In the morning, discover the Best of Budapest. Tour the Buda castle district and admire spectacular views from Fisherman’s Bastion. Walk along Liberty bridge towards Central Market Hall. This buzzing market is full of locally-sourced Hungarian delicacies such as paprika, meats, fruits and cakes. It’s also the perfect place to indulge in some delectable chimney cake! In the evening, choose to embark on a Danube river cruise for unforgettable evening sightseeing with an included dinner on board.

En route to Vienna, stop in Slovakia’s capital, Bratislava. Explore its beautifully-restored historic centre, medieval courtyards and pedestrian streets nestled between the steep Castle Hill and Danube River. On arrival in Vienna, embark on a driving tour following the Vienna Ringstrasse, the grand circular boulevard that encircles the historic city centre. The Ringstrasse is famous for its impressive array of historical buildings, palaces, museums, and parks. Check into your accommodation and enjoy a free evening. Alternatively, join a highly-recommended, optional Classical Music concert tonight in a famous Baroque Palace.

Enjoy Vienna and its museums at leisure or join our Elegant Vienna optional excursion! Start your day immersed in imperial grandeur with a guided tour of the UNESCO-listed Schönbrunn Palace, one of Vienna’s most iconic landmarks. Tour the exquisitely restored interior, each room offering a glimpse into the lives of Austria’s former emperors and empresses. Afterwards, wander through the enchanting Schönbrunn Gardens. Then, enjoy a light lunch at a traditional restaurant. End the day with a visit to the dazzling Swarovski store. Step into a world of shimmering brilliance, where you can admire intricate crystal sculptures, jewelry, and accessories.

After breakfast, travel to Salzburg. This Baroque jewel was the birthplace of Mozart. Embark on a walking tour to discover the house where the famous composer was born! You’ll also be wowed by the fairytale spires and lush gardens of this beautiful city, crowned by the 11th century Hohensalzburg Fortress. Salzburg is also well known for the singing von Trapp family and the setting for the classic film, The Sound of Music! Bid farewell to your fellow travellers with an included lunch at a local brewery before continuing the journey to Munich.
